APP TAPS VALVE STATS
Keep handy flow references right on your smart phone. The free ASCO Flow Calculator enables customers to calculate flow for a valve, or determine the Cv needed to properly size a valve. It also offers the fluid guide, which provides reference information on the types of valves available for most common corrosive and non-corrosive gases and liquids, as well as a distributor locator and an interactive conversion tool that quickly converts between metric and imperial values. In addition, it includes nine conversion calculators for area, energy, flow, length, pressure, temperature, velocity, volume and weight. The app is available for both iPhones and Android-based smart phones from either the Apple iTunes or Google Play stores. Just search "ASCO Flow Calculator."

UNDERSTAND THE ESSENTIALS
The basis of good flowmeter selection is a clear understanding of the requirements of the particular application. Therefore, time should be invested in fully evaluating the nature of the process fluid and of the overall installation. The development of specifications that state the application requirements should be a systematic, step-by-step process. In this Essentials guide, the editors of Control walk through the alternatives, explain how to narrow your choices, and uncover the latest application trends. The document is free, but registration is required. The direct link is at http://bit.ly/1jZgbKs.
