Congratulations to the Class of 2012 Inductees to the Process Automation Hall of Fame #pauto #control #ATPM

Dec. 20, 2011

Once again, the nominations have been made, the votes sent in and the results have been tabulated for the Class of 2012 of the Process Automation Hall of Fame.

This year's class members are: Vern Heath, Mark Nixon and Tom Phinney.

Vern Heath founded Rosemount in a converted chicken coop, and grew it to become the Emerson Process Management we know today. His influence in the process automation industry, both as an inventor, and as a business leader were extensive, and continue to be felt.

Mark Nixon has had a brilliant career at Emerson Process Management, and has produced many significant processes and inventions, not the least of which was that he, along with Wally Pratt, and our third inductee, was the principal author of the specification that became IEC62591-WirelessHART.

Not least for being last on the list, Tom Phinney retired from a distinguished career at Honeywell as a Senior Honeywell Fellow, and is now consulting and chairing the IEC groups on cybersecurity for industrial control systems. Tom was the principal designer of the security portion of Honeywell's OneWireless network, now ISA100.11a, as well as a major consultant to .11a's primary competitor, WirelessHART. His contributions to industrial networking, both wired and wireless are simply astounding.

As they do every year, the past inductees of the Process Automation Hall of Fame have produced an outstanding class. The members of the Hall are the only voters, although anyone can nominate. The previous inductees are:
