European End Users Announce New Industrial Cyber Security Standard

Last week in the Hague, the WIB (The International Instrument Users’ Association) plant security working group announced the first completed international Process Control Domain-Security Requirement for Vendors of process automation and control products and services - after more than 2 years of activity. Based on this cyber security standard there is also a certification program being developed by the Canadian company Wurldtech. Many international end-users such as Shell will be mandating this certification and government agencies such as the Dutch NICC (National Infrastructure against CyberCrime) are also assisting to drive adoption internationally.

The WIB guideline document ‘Process Control Domain-Security Requitrements for Vendors’ is freely available to interested professionals. To obtain your copy, send a short E-mail message to: [email protected]

More information can be found here: http://www.wib.nl/

Wurldtech also wrote a blog on it: http://www.wurldtech.com/blog/

WIB AND WURLDTECH HAVE PERMITTED CONTROLGLOBAL.COM TO POST THE DOCUMENT FOR DOWNLOAD. AS SOON AS IT IS AVAILABLE I WILL POST TO UNFETTERED AND SOUNDOFF THE URL. THIS IS, IN MY OPINION, REALLY BIG NEWS, AND A HUGE STEP FORWARD.
