Polytechnic University Offers New Online Master of Science in Electrical Engineering
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 30, 2004--Polytechnic University (http://www.poly.edu), the nation's second oldest private technology university, today announced a new distance learning program that will allow students to earn a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering (http://eeweb.poly.edu/) through online courses. Graduate students are encouraged to apply online (http://www.poly.edu/graduate).
The online MSEE program allows students to complete course work at their own convenience, making time in their schedule for a master's degree program. It also makes a Polytechnic degree available to students who do not live in the New York metropolitan area.
The admissions policy is identical for applicants of both the online degree and traditional degree programs offered at the Brooklyn campus and graduate centers on Long Island and Westchester County, NY. Participants of the online learning program will face the same challenging course work required of all Polytechnic students to earn a master degree.
"We've seen many students struggle to earn a graduate degree while holding down a full-time job. We've launched this online program, providing the same rigorous curriculum and resulting in the same prestigious advanced degree as our traditional on-campus MSEE program. The convenient on-line format, available 24/7, helps accommodate the increasingly busy schedules of our students," said Dr. Sunil Kumar, Polytechnic University's Associate Provost for Graduate School.
Polytechnic's Online Master in electrical engineering (MSEE) includes three core courses, two two-course sequences and electives and concentrations that provide knowledge and experience across a number of sub disciplines within electrical engineering. Students may choose a formal concentration in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications and Networking, Signal Processing, Systems and Control, Electronics and VLSI, Fields and Waves, Plasma and Atmospheric Physics, Power Systems and Energy or Wireless Communications.
Students that earn the degree of Master of Science will join the ranks of nearly 27,000 Poly alumni worldwide. The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Polytechnic University has a long tradition of excellence in teaching and research, starting with the inception of the EE programs at "Brooklyn Poly" in 1885. The department is known as a leader for its groundbreaking and innovative work in microwave, communications, electrical machinery and automatic control technology.
