he Fieldbus Foundation, in partnership with the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), has announced that its End User Council (EUC) will conduct a Foundation fieldbus informational event on June 9-10, 2005, at SAIT, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
The EUC conference will be hosted at SAIT's facility, enabling local and international fieldbus experts, together with end users from across Canada, to share their experiences. Those seeking more information about Foundation fieldbus will have an opportunity to speak with leading fieldbus authorities. Attendees should bring their application or technology questions for consideration. Tabletop exhibits showcasing vendors' fieldbus products and services also will be on display.
Scheduled end user presentation topics include:
- Developing an integrated fieldbus architecture for Canadian Natural Resources' Horizon Oil Sands project
- The methodology used by Nexen to work with two owner-operated companies and two engineering firms to implement Foundation fieldbus.
- A panel discussion consisting of leading fieldbus experts and major end users who will discuss their experiences with Foundation fieldbus technology.
- Tabletop exhibits and end user presentations.
The Fieldbus Foundation and SAIT will present a half-day workshop covering a choice of fieldbus-related topics. Other activities include a presentation on Foundation fieldbus economics, laboratory tours and tabletop exhibits. The program will conclude with a reception featuring keynote addresses by Irene Lewis, SAIT president and CEO, and also a prominent end user. Richard Timoney, Fieldbus Foundation president and CEO, will deliver a recap and closing comments.
EUC Western Canada co-chairman Ian Verhappen expects attendees to come away from the EUC meeting fully informed about the latest Foundation fieldbus news. "With foundation staff members on hand bringing everyone up to date on the latest developments, plus end users sharing their experiences using the technology, we should be able to address any and all questions for anyone considering getting on the fast track to fieldbus," he said.
