Emerson has been selected as Suncor's supplier for automation products, solutions, and services.

In 1967, Suncor pioneered commercial crude oil production from oil sands in the Athabasca region of northern Alberta. Since then, Suncor has become a major North American energy producer and marketer. Suncor’s refining operations process oil sands products into refined products.
Suncor plans to extensively deploy Emerson’s PlantWeb digital automation technology to build smart facilities. The agreement also provides opportunities for Emerson to work in collaboration with Suncor, and engineering procurement construction (EPC) contractors to support application engineering, project management, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance and operations.
“We are extremely pleased with this opportunity to deliver incremental value by applying our automation engineering expertise and PlantWeb digital plant architecture to Suncor’s complete range of projects,” commented John Berra, president of Emerson Process Management. “I’m confident that the team of Suncor, Emerson and EPC personnel will excel in building and automating facilities that realize project savings, and exhibit leading edge operations efficiency, reliability and safety.”
“This agreement is especially rewarding as it represents a further opportunity for Emerson and Spartan to work with an oil sands leader like Suncor to deliver another step up in successful project execution and life cycle value from leading automation technology and innovative approaches,” added Mike Begin, president of Spartan Controls, Emerson’s local business partner. “Suncor is one of the most progressive and well run companies in the world, and we are committed to their successful growth.”
