Honeywell has announced the agenda for its 2006 Users’ Group Americas Symposium, which will be held June 11-16 in Phoenix, with the theme “Adapting to Change.”  Honeywell customers from around the world will meet to exchange ideas, share their experiences and create strategies for meeting their toughest business challenges, including those related to security, energy efficiency and the integration and management of new technologies. Honeywell’s Experion Process Knowledge System (PKS) R300, wireless technology and life cycle management will be the focus of this year’s event.

“This is a challenging but exciting time to be working in the process industries and this year’s symposium – the theme and the content – reflect that,” said Randy Underwood, manager of liquids management for Enterprise Product Company and chairman of the Users Group Americas Steering Committee. “Working with Honeywell, our committee has put together a well-rounded program that addresses some of the most critical issues and the most innovative solutions.” 

“Today’s business environment challenges our customers to produce more with fewer resources, greater efficiency and less impact on the environment and that’s driving change from the plant floor to the board room,” said Jack Bolick, president of Honeywell Process Solutions. “Through peer-to-peer sharing and live technology demonstrations, this year’s Users Group Symposium will show our customers how to deploy technology to the benefit of their businesses.” 

Highlights of the symposium include a special session for customers engaged in new construction “greenfield" projects and major expansions, an inside look at a DuPont process facility’s recovery from Hurricane Katrina, and a presentation by CONTROL Editor in Chief, Walt Boyes, on how the process industries can address the growing shortage of engineers. The symposium’s popular Experion Theater will provide live demonstrations of how plants and mills can migrate to newer control platforms, while protecting their automation investment.

This year’s Agenda features more than 80 user presentations, industry-specific breakout sessions, topical panel discussions, an extensive demonstration and exhibit area, plus an informal atmosphere that encourages networking opportunities. Honeywell customers scheduled to present include Shell, ConocoPhillips, Genentech, Merck, Phelps Dodge, Procter & Gamble, DuPont, Georgia-Pacific and ExxonMobil. Several Honeywell partners will play prominent roles at the conference, including representatives from Cisco Systems, Microsoft, Relcom, Inc., Stratus Technologies, Pepperl & Fuchs, Dresser Masoneilan, Endress + Hauser and Turck.

Also on the agenda are sessions that focus on specific industries, such as refining, metals, minerals and mining, pulp, paper and printing, power generation, oil and gas, chemicals and life sciences.

The event in Phoenix is just one of six Honeywell Users Group symposia taking place worldwide in 2006. Other conferences are being held later this year in Europe, India, Australia and China. A Middle East conference was held in March.
