Fieldbus Center offers introductory fieldbus course in October

BAYTOWN, Texas -- The Fieldbus Center at Lee College, a National Science Foundation (NSF) recognized and funded institution, will be offering "Course 101: Introduction to Fieldbus" on October 27, 2007.  This one-day, Fieldbus Foundation-certified training course is intended for managers, supervisors and engineers interested in a fundamental knowledge of fieldbus design, management and capabilities.

Students attending "Course 101: Introduction to Fieldbus" will become familiar with the basic concepts and new terminology related to the Foundation fieldbus automation infrastructure.  Students will understand the key strategies for wiring and installation of a fieldbus network.  Special emphasis will be given to design issues such as power requirements, device types, and topologies.

The course covers a review of function blocks and the applications characterizing a Foundation device.  Students learn the differences between block types as well as key components of the standard function blocks defined by the Fieldbus Foundation.  Other concepts reviewed include mode and status, linkages, alarming and trending.  The importance of the Device Description (DD) accompanying every registered FOUNDATION device will also be discussed.
