SIXNET acquires BlueTree Wireless Data
08/28/2007
Clifton Park, New York - August 27 - SIXNET Holdings, LLC, announced today that it has signed an agreement to acquire 100% of the outstanding shares of BlueTree Wireless Data, a supplier of machine-to-machine (M2M) cellular data products.
SIXNET and BlueTree have been working for some time to integrate their respective technologies. Both SIXNET and BlueTree base their products on a Linux platform that invites integration. The two companies working together have developed a new hardware platform that will greatly increase performance while lowering operating power and reducing the mounting footprint of the resulting products, say company spokesmen.
While working together as technology partners it became apparent that the synergies the two companies share made this merger a logical and beneficial next step. The first jointly developed products, based upon EVDO cellular technology, will be unveiled in fourth quarter this year.
BlueTree Wireless will continue to be managed by Michael Ramsay, BlueTree president. Ramsay and a second as-yet-unnamed BlueTree representative will be joining the board of directors of SIXNET Holdings, LLC, the parent company of SIXNET, LLC. BlueTree's multiple locations across in Canada will have strategic importance in increasing SIXNET's presence in the Canadian market.
Steve Schoenberg, CEO of SIXNET, says: "We are pleased to now be able to offer our customers wireless solutions to complement the Industrial Ethernet and fiber-optic solutions that SIXNET already offers. Our OEM customers will have global connectivity for their SIXNET-based products with the advantage of carrier certifications that are made possible by the integration of BlueTree modems into SIXNET Automation and Ethernet Connectivity product offerings."
