Hyperion Completes OTS Maintenance Project for BP Chemicals
09/18/2007
Watford, U.K. -- Hyperion Systems Engineering Ltd, a supplier of Operator Training Simulator (OTS) software, announced that it has successfully completed an OTS upgrade project for BP Chemicals at Hull in the United Kingdom.
The project was implemented at BP’s Saltend site, acknowledged as a Centre of Excellence for Training Simulators in the BP organization, in close cooperation with the dedicated simulation team at Saltend.
The simulator is a full-scope, high-fidelity OTS for one of the main processes at the Hull site. It has been in active use for several years and is based on the OTISS modelling platform and a Honeywell TDC3000 DCS system and operator stations. Consistent with any operating plant, changes to the DCS and control configurations, as well as to the plant itself, continue to be made. To ensure that maximum value continues to be derived from the original investment in the OTS, it is crucial that the simulator is regularly updated to reflect all such changes.
Dean Jones, VP of Modelling & Simulation Solutions at Hyperion, said: “We are very pleased to be working with BP Chemicals at Hull to sustain the benefits obtained in using OTS for plant operations and operator training programs. In addition to the turn key design and delivery of OTS systems, updating existing systems is a highly important service that we provide to our customers.”
