GlobalSpec announces expanded partnership with the IEEE

Troy, N.Y.-- GlobalSpec (www.globalspec.com), the specialized search engine, information resource and e-publishing company for the engineering, industrial and technical communities, has announced that it has expanded its relationship with the IEEE, the world’s largest professional association for the advancement of technology.

Visitors to the IEEE Xplore Web site, a digital library providing full-text access to the world's highest quality technical literature in electrical engineering, computer science and electronics, will now have access to more than one million application notes available on GlobalSpec. Application notes - content created by companies to explain, illustrate and promote technologies or products - are searchable by keyword and will be displayed separately from IEEE Xplore search results. This full library of application notes is powered by The Engineering Web, a vertical search engine consisting of more than 200 million Web pages of engineering and technical content indexed by GlobalSpec.

“Each month, IEEE Xplore receives more than eight million visits a month from customers seeking concise, relevant information about highly technical topics,” said Bruce Bergwall, senior director of business development for GlobalSpec. “The expanded partnership between GlobalSpec and IEEE offers added value to these professionals, reinforcing GlobalSpec’s position as a leading provider of quality technical information.”

“By making application notes search results from GlobalSpec available through IEEE Xplore, we are providing our customers with additional value. Now, not only will visitors to IEEE Xplore be able to obtain the latest technical information published by IEEE, they will be able to also review practical applications of the technology,” said Barbara Lange, staff director for product management at IEEE.

The relationship between GlobalSpec and the IEEE was initially established in 2005. GlobalSpec currently indexes over one million technical documents, including journal articles and conference proceedings, from the IEEE on The Engineering Web. IEEE publishes over 30 percent of the world’s literature in the electrical engineering and computer science fields and many of the top cited technology journals. These include 132 transactions, journals and magazines, conference proceedings and IEEE standards.
