Watlow controllers now RoHS-compliant

March 25, 2008
St. Louis, Mo. – Watlow, a designer and manufacturer of heaters, controllers and temperature sensors, today announced that Watlow’s on-off temperature and limit controllers are now compliant with the European Reduction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive (2002-95-EC). Watlow’s on-off line of products include the SERIES CV, LV, CF, LF and TM controllers. This means Watlow uses components that meet hazardous material restrictions outlined in the directive. RoHS bans restrict the use of several substances including lead, mercury, cadmium, hexa-valent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers. While RoHS was developed for the European Union, similar requirements are being developed in other countries; therefore Watlow is proactively addressing these compliance issues across the board. For complaint parts listings, material declaration sheets and other RoHS compliance information, visit www.watlow.com. Watlow’s on-off temperature and limit microprocessor-based controllers are available in a broad range of packaging options including panel-mount, DIN-rail-mount, open- board and open-board potted, allowing users to select the best version for their individual application. The controllers can be ordered with either fixed or adjustable setpoint, heat or cool on-off temperature control and with high or low limit trip action. The on-off temperature and limit controller designs provide significant improvements in the performance, repeatability and accuracy offered by analog on-off and limit controllers. The upgrade to RoHS compliance does not change customer model number ordering options, agency listings, price or warranty.
