Baden, Switzerland, May 19  --  ABB announced today that it has won an order valued at approximately $12 million to provide a complete electrical power and automation system for Drake Cement’s new plant in Yavapai County, Arizona. The 660,000-ton-per-year Drake Cement Plant will be developed by Peru's ARPL Tecnologia Industrial SA, owner of Cementos Lima SA and the Yavapai-Apache Nation.

“ABB was selected to deliver this project because of our fully integrated solution for the Cement Industry,” notes Frank Smith, ABB’s business manager for mining and minerals in the U.S. “Because of our process experience, we were able to optimize the design for the electrical systems and integrate the entire plant with our Industrial IT 800xA Extended Automation System.”

By integrating the process and electrical automation system on the common 800xA platform, the customer will see additional benefits in reduced maintenance, engineering and overall life-cycle costs.

The scope of supply includes ABB’s composite plant approach. This approach encompasses the complete electrical design, complete electrical and automation engineering, motors, drives, MCCs, 800xA control system, analyzers, CEMS, switchgear and instrumentation.
