Yokogawa Claims World First with Foundation

Yokogawa is claiming a world first with the introduction of a FDT Group-certified Foundation fieldbus Device Type Manager (DTM) for its DPharp EJA V2.5 pressure/differential pressure transmitter. Hailed as a further step forward for its VigilantPlant Asset Excellence initiative, the DTM allows users of Foundation fieldbus to access FDT/DTM technology and hence achieve the same degree of interoperability and trouble-free installation as they would with the large number of devices that already have DTMs certified for Hart and Profibus.
The new DTM is fully interoperable with all certified frame applications, including Yokogawa’s own FieldMate R1.03 and PRM R3.02 asset management systems that provide users with intuitive access to all of the advanced features of Foundation fieldbus devices. It also means that users can deploy a mix of Hart and Foundation devices without risking interoperability problems.
Yokogawa used the FDT Group’s recently completed tool set for Foundation fieldbus certification of DTMs and verified that the device DTM for the EJA transmitters met FDT Group specifications for the protocol using dtmINSPECTOR 2.1. The rigorous process was completed at Yokogawa’s certified Interoperability Test Lab in Singapore. Yokogawa is an enthusiastic supporter of the FDT/DTM initiative and a board member of the FDT Group.
