Chromalox Mexican operation wins ISO 9001:2000 certification
08/06/2008
Pittsburgh, Pa. — August 5 — Chromalox, a manufacturer of electric heat and control products, has been awarded the ISO 9001:2000 certification for its Mexico manufacturing facility located in Nuevo Laredo in the state of Tamaulipas. ISO 9001:2000 is an internationally recognized quality management system standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
“Quality is one of the pillars on which our business has been built,” said Scott Dysert, CEO of Chromalox. “We are very pleased to receive ISO 9001:2000 certification for this facility and will continue to invest in initiatives that provide our customers with the confidence that they will receive consistently high quality from every Chromalox product and every interaction with our associates.“
ISO 9001:2000 applies to organizations involved in the design and development, manufacturing, installation and servicing of products. To be certified to the standard, companies must implement a comprehensive quality management system that addresses all areas of operation. The Chromalox facility in Mexico is a 75,000 square-foot facility that manufactures:
Comfort air heaters
Tubular heaters (multiple configuration)
Cartridge heaters
Small Flanged heaters
Screw Plug heaters.
”The 9001:2000 Certification is a vital component of our overall quality program,” said Everick Spence, director of quality and operational excellence at Chromalox. “It is a testament to the unwavering dedication of our team to providing the highest quality products to our customers.”
As part of its quality program, Chromalox has aggressively pursued product certification and has achieved more third-party approvals than any other manufacturer in the industry. Most recently, the company’s Ogden, Utah, manufacturing facility was awarded ISO 9001:2000 certification. The company has also been awarded the KOSHA (Korean Occupational Safety and Health Administration) certificate for heating cables and accessories, and the CQST (China National Quality Supervision and Test Center for Explosion Protected Electrical Products) certification for heating cables suitable for Applications of Division 1 and Division 2 hazardous locations.
