Green Hills Software achieves CMMI Maturity Level 3 rating
08/20/2008
Santa Barbara, Calif. — August 19 — Green Hills Software, Inc., today announced that it has attained Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Maturity Level 3 rating following a successful Standard CMMI Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPI) A appraisal for its operating system and compiler development organizations. Green Hills Software was appraised to the CMMI-DEV Version 1.2 Model. The published appraisal report can be found online at http://sas.sei.cmu.edu/pars/pars_detail.aspx?a=11071.
While CMMI appraisals are often sought by services organizations, Green Hills Software is the first embedded solutions provider to achieve the CMMI Maturity Level 3 rating in its product development organization. This is especially important for operating systems, compilers and other systems software that are components of, or used directly in, the creation of critical electronic products, including automotive drive trains, aircraft flight controls, industrial control systems, secure communications gear and medical devices. By relying on suppliers with CMMI-rated product development, customers can reduce schedule risk and development cost while improving end product quality.
“As a former computer science professor, I have a unique perspective with respect to evaluating CMMI initiatives in software development organizations,” commented Transdyne Corporation’s Dr. Mary Anne Herndon, SEI/CMMI SCAMPI Lead Appraiser. “Green Hills Software should be proud of its comprehensive integration and testing systems, corporate dedication to the highest levels of quality, and its commitment to continuous process improvement as demonstrated by this rating.”
