TÜV SÜD America doubles number of testing standards
09/23/2008
Peabody, Mass., September 22 -- TÜV SÜD America Inc, a global testing and certification organization, is now able to offer its customers product testing on over 140 UL/ANSI standards. Recognized by OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration) as a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL), TÜV is capable of performing electrical safety certification to North American requirements for Medical Devices, Machinery, IT Equipment and Laboratory Test & Measurement Equipment including, Personal Hygiene and Health Care, Pools/ Hot Tubs/ Spas and Associated Equipment, Sewing and Cutting Machines, Uninterruptable Power Supply Equipment, Washing Machines and Hand-held Motor-Operated Electric Tools.
Nationally recognized testing laboratories are private third-party organizations recognized by OSHA under Federal Code 29 CFR 1910.7 to provide product safety testing and certification services for a wide range of products used in the U.S. workplace. NRTL recognition acknowledges that TÜV is knowledgeable, competent and approved to perform electrical safety testing to these standards.
"I am very pleased that we can now offer product testing to 147 product standards," stated Joe Janeliunas, director of product safety services for TÜV SÜD America. "Product safety testing is very important for our customers in their ability to meet national regulatory requirements to avoid delays in deliveries to their customers. Our expert staff and quick turnaround times allow the manufacturers to meet their demanding scheduling in getting products to the market place," concluded Mr. Janeliunas.
In addition to being an NRTL, TÜV SÜD is an SCC-accredited Certification Body, a European Union Notified Body, and a National Certification Body (NCB). These accreditations enable TÜV to test to multiple-country testing schemes simultaneously, providing a faster, lower-cost alternative to global product safety certification.
