Accounts of Philp’s resignation exaggerated

Rumors that reached us in mid-September that Graeme Philp had resigned from MTL less than a year after its acquisition by Cooper Crouse-Hinds were rapidly quashed when we contacted him. “Well I certainly haven’t resigned!” he replied. “I have just had a small promotion within Cooper.” That promotion is to vice president with responsibility within EMEA with cross-divisional responsibilities. “This means I will be responsible for the growth by acquisition of MTL as well as the other parts of Cooper Industries.”

Taking over Philp’s role at MTL is Peter Maxwell who has wide experience within the Cooper organization. Philp is currently introducing him to the process automation industry by the simple expedient of accompanying him to every user conference throughout the autumn. As a result, you may have encountered either or both of them at the IPS User Conference in Dallas in early September or, as we did, at both the Yokogawa European event in Barcelona a couple of weeks later and at Emerson Exchange in Washington D.C. three days after that. If you missed them at any of those, then you’ll probably catch up with them at the European Honeywell User Group (HUG) event in Berlin at the end of this month. Accompanying them on these engagements has been Eric Byers, actively promoting their common interest in the Tofino security offering.
