ILS Technology’s deviceWISE certified for Oracle
02/26/2009
BOCA RATON, Fla. – Feb. 23, 2009 – ILS Technology announced that its deviceWISE platform has been certified for Oracle Manufacturing Operations Center, which improves manufacturing efficiency and quality through increased shop-floor visibility. The testing was done in a lab of Geometric Ltd. that included a complete setup of Oracle Manufacturing Operations Center, ILS Technology’s deviceWISE and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to mimic a realistic shop-floor systems environment. The testing and certification for compatibility for real-time connectivity and performance was completed by Geometric, Ltd.Oracle Manufacturing Operations Center addresses the need for accurate and timely information about product and process quality, insight into manufacturing operations and performance of manufacturing assets. It solves the complex problem of connecting fragmented shop-floor data to the business context of back-office systems and ERP.
Last year, ILS Technology announced a relationship with Oracle to provide an interface between the devices on the manufacturing floor and Oracle Manufacturing Operations Center. ILS Technology, which is a member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork, developed a solution as an application extension to deviceWISE that was demonstrated in the Oracle Manufacturing Operations Center booth at Oracle Open World 2008. In recently completed certification tests, the deviceWISE solution earned a 100 percent rating for functionality and performance.
“We are very pleased with what ILS Technology’s deviceWISE platform extension offers as a solution,” said Manish Modi, Oracle vice president, manufacturing and product lifecycle management applications development. “The comprehensive testing by Geometric proves that deviceWISE is a robust and reliable way to connect a wide variety of plant floor devices such as PLCs, programmable automation controllers and RFID readers to Oracle Manufacturing Operations Center.”
In addition, ILS Technology’s deviceWISE solution is the only certified offering that allows flexibility to provide both native device communication and OPC device communication. This means deviceWISE is not limited to running in a Microsoft Windows environment. It is scalable and can be embedded in a device, installed in an edge computer, or run on Unix, Linux or Windows servers to provide device connectivity to Oracle Manufacturing Operations Center.
“Especially in this economic environment, manufacturers require constant, real-time and high-quality information about plant operations to react to market changes and maximize their global value chains,” said Bob Mick, vice president of emerging technology, ARC Advisory Group. “ILS Technology is helping Oracle’s Manufacturing Operations Center meet this demand by providing Oracle customers with additional options for accessing the wide variety of information produced and stored in their plants.”
