IPS upgrades Waha Oil's automation systems
04/02/2009
LONDON – Invensys Process Systems (IPS), a technology, software and consulting firm, has announced that it has signed a multi-million dollar contract with Waha Oil Company, a Libya-based oil producer, to provide comprehensive automation upgrades at the company’s oil fields in Gialo, Waha, Dahra, Samha and Defa.
Under the terms of the contract, IPS will deliver its proprietary InFusion enterprise control system technology to replace existing supervisory control and data acquisition systems for five remote-area operating centers and one main control room at the Waha oil field. IPS will also supply 30 new remote terminal units (RTUs) and retrofit existing RTUs, as well as replace wireless Systronic units.
“Our state-of-the-art technology will improve the compatibility between different generations of system components at Waha’s oil fields, as well as grant access to the centralized, real-time information Waha Oil needs to reduce operating and production costs,” said Roberto DiMeo, IPS client sales executive. “We are pleased to serve as their trusted business partner as they improve safety, reduce costs and increase overall efficiency.”
IPS has the largest installed base in that nation. As part of the agreement, the company will also provide project management, systems configuration, and assembly and testing services, including installation, commissioning and training solutions. These services and solutions will enable Waha Oil to increase production and strengthen its position as one of Libya’s leading producers of crude oil. Waha Oil Company is the second biggest oil producer in Libya and operates four oil fields, the largest of which is Waha Oil Field.
