Hans Meder, co-founder of Oil Systems GmbH passed away

Hans Meder, co-founder of Oil Systems GmbH (now known as OSIsoft Europe) passed away on March 2, 2009, in Altenstadt, Germany, just six weeks after the passing of his wife, Sigi.

Meder was born June 8, 1942. He studied at the University of Applied Sciences in Frankfurt and the Technische Universität Darmstadt. After passing his Diploma, he worked for Samson as a specialist for flow measurement with worldwide responsibilities. He then joined Taylor Instruments, where he fulfilled various positions in selling instruments, distributed control systems and applications throughout Europe. Prior to co-founding OSIsoft Europe, Hans’ career brought him to Measurex, where he sold applications to the metal and energy industries in Europe.

With his long-time friend and business partner, Pat Kennedy, CEO and founder of OSIsoft, Inc., he founded Oil Systems GmbH in 1988. Meder stepped back from his position as shareholder and managing director of OSIsoft Europe in June 2008.

Hans and Sigi Meder established the Sigi and Hans Meder Siftung, a foundation established to support workers’ children in pursuing university studies in technical disciplines and natural sciences. They also supported the Büdinger Tafel, a Protestant Church organization dedicated to supporting under privileged families of Büdingen and Altenstadt.
