SCADA provider Telvent adds Longwatch surveillance to system

June 10, 2009

Telvent has announced it is partnering with Longwatch to integrate components of the
Longwatch Surveillance System with the Telvent OASyS DNA supervisory control
and data acquisition (SCADA) system. This alliance provides oil, gas, electric, and
water network operators the ability to use video to monitor, control access and
verify alarms at centralized control or remote network sites through an OASyS DNA
SCADA system.

The alliance of the Longwatch and Telvent helps oil and gas pipeline companies and electric transmission and distribution organizations meet ever-increasing industry regulations regarding security of critical assets, and it also reduces operating costs by improving facility up-time, utilization of personnel and facilities, and worker safety.

With Video Control Center software and a video collection engine, this surveillance
system pulls together video images and displays the images to a central control room.
The integration provides event-based video and system alarms on the same display to
operators in the OASyS system control room, adding yet another level of real-time
information supporting reliable network operations. Operators also can email video clips to remote or on-call operations personnel and centrally manage access permissions and remotely monitor and unlock entry points.

The Longwatch Surveillance System is the only system that can transmit video over
existing SCADA networks.
