New local facilities for Emerson, GE and Cameron

Saudi FAL and Emerson Process Management have opened a new 9000 sq.m manufacturing facility in Jubail, Saudi Arabia. The facility will have the capacity to produce 2500 Fisher control valves and 6000 Rosemount transmitters per annum, plus will assemble and test a further 3600 valves. The operation will also offer service facilities for valves and transmitters. With a process systems staging and integration area available for over 100 cabinets, the facility will offer factory acceptance testing for systems up to 60,000 I/O. The new facility is located close to Jubail Industrial College, one of Saudi Arabia's largest and most sophisticated hands-on technical institutes. Emerson Process Management recently donated a PlantWeb Cruiser, a process simulator, as part of a four-year program that will provide students with hands-on experience of the actual working conditions of a process plant and control room. Other similar Emerson facilities are in Al Khobar (Saudi Arabia), Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha (Qatar) and Johannesburg (S Africa).

GE Centers for Moisture Probes
The GE Sensing business in Japan recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to usher in the first day of operation of its newly installed, upgraded moisture calibration system for the Panametrics aluminum oxide trace moisture probes. This is the most recent upgrade in a series of upgrades, expansions and new locations that GE started in 2007, which has seen new systems in Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi, upgrades in Billerica, USA and Shannon, Ireland, while new systems at Changzhou in China and Sydney, Australia, will be operational in 2011. GE ships thousands of trace moisture probes annually into a global installed base. Regional certification and customs requirements and an increased requirement for faster recalibrations mandate that factory-quality calibration systems are located near to the customers and are accessible worldwide through a web-based portal.

Cameron Subsea Projects in China
Cameron has received a multi-million dollar order for the supply of subsea production systems for a deepwater and offshore gas processing and pipeline project in the South China Sea. The project will include subsea equipment, as well as an agreement to provide additional services across the life of the field.
 
Cameron president and CEO Jack Moore commented: "At water depths of nearly 5000 feet, this represents the deepest prospect to date in the Asia-Pacific region. We are pleased to have the opportunity to provide Cameron's equipment and technology in support of this important development. This is the first major subsea project in China for Cameron, and it represents a significant market opportunity." In conjunction with the award, Cameron will construct a new aftermarket facility in China to provide aftermarket services for this and future projects in the region.
