Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE:EMR), and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity is promoting its recently opened, best-in-class test lab with a capabilities video and an entertaining series of "Surge and Destroy" YouTube videos.
Located in Binghamton, New York, the test lab is one of only a few in the world capable of producing up to 250,000 amps of surge, with impulse durations of 20 to 350 microseconds (equivalent to a lightning strike). Emerson is providing a short four-minute video that introduces the facility. Called "Testing The Limits," this video describes the lab's capabilities for putting surge protective devices through their paces.
This helpful video showcases the bottom-line benefits of this lab: Emerson Network Power’s ability to significantly enhance product safety and performance for surge protection devices that the company manufactures. The lab tests against both domestic and international standards, so customers can be sure that their devices meet (or exceed) all of the strictest regulations.
In addition to the test lab video, Emerson Network Power has created a series of YouTube videos starring "Surgeo" – a fun-loving engineer with a penchant for blowing things up. Surgeo shows viewers the real power behind electricity – and the potential consequences of power surges – by blowing up household items such as a coffee maker, laptop, alarm clock, and more.
According to Sarah Beadle, director of marketing for the Surge Protection business of Emerson Network Power, the goal for the series is to educate customers on the importance of surge protective devices in an entertaining way.
The intention for all of these online efforts is to promote the world-class capabilities of the Emerson Network Power testing lab.
