Phoenix Contact announces Nanoline Contest 2013
09/26/2012
MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Phoenix Contact’s Nanoline Contest 2013 is underway. For the fifth consecutive year, middle school and high school students can vie for a trip to Germany by creating a working control system using Phoenix Contact’s Nanoline controller.
Judges will select the best project in February as part of Phoenix Contact’s National Engineers Week activities. In April, the winning team will represent Phoenix Contact USA at Hanover Fair (Hannover Messe), the world’s largest industrial tradeshow, in Hanover, Germany.
They will present their project in TectoYou, a special hall dedicated to promoting engineering and science careers to youth. The winners of a corresponding contest in Germany will also attend the show.
"This contest is an opportunity to practice real-world engineering, project management and team-building skills," said Jack Nehlig, president of Phoenix Contact USA. "Every year, the teams take these projects to a more advanced level, and we look forward to seeing this year's creative ideas."
The Nanoline is an intelligent and compact controller that automates basic tasks. It runs on the intuitive nanoNavigator software, which allows programming via either simple flow charting or relay ladder logic (RLL). No programming experience is necessary.
To register and learn more, interested students, teachers and parents can visit www.phoenixcontact.com/nanolinecontest. Online registration runs through October 4. Phoenix Contact will host an informational seminar for registered teams on October 6. Teachers outside of Central Pennsylvania can attend via a live WebEx presentation.
