Systems integration specialist Hima-Sella has three contracts to provide solutions to protect against overpressure scenarios at the Total E&P UK Ltd gas terminal at St. Fergus, Scotland.

The contract says that Hima-Sella will be upgrading an existing over pressure protection system (OPPS). At the same time, Hima-Sella has also been contracted by valve manufacturer Mokveld to provide and install a new high integrity pressure protection system (HIPPS) and a new interlock over pressure protection system (IOPPS).

Each system is being implemented using a HIMA Planar 4 solid state logic solver connected to pressure transmitters fitted to the interlocking manifolds of the pipelines they protect. In the event of an overpressure scenario, the Planar 4 will send shutdown signals to the respective safety valves.

Hima-Sella is also providing a HIMA HIMatrix system as a controller for 'Sequence of Events' reporting and pressure transmitter discrepancy calculations.

All system components have been delivered and are scheduled for installation during the summer. Commissioning is scheduled for mid- to late-September.
