SEL Puts in Motion Disaster Relief Efforts for Hurricane Sandy Victims

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL)  started disaster relief efforts by offering hurricane victims a 30% product discount and accelerated delivery on products  and technical support purchased for power outages. The company will also be making a $100,000 donation to the American Red Cross.

"After seeing the news and the huge impact caused by Hurricane Sandy we knew we needed to act quickly," said Nancy Hindman, chief of operations and finance officer at SEL.

The hurricane that hit the East coast last week caused collapsed trees to knock down power lines and flood underground vaults, leaving millions without power. SEL regional support centers are offering technical support to customers in the northeast region of the state.

"We are answering technical questions about the use of our products," said Erik Newman, business director of sales and customer service at SEL. "We have been giving protection advice and suggestions on how best to replace equipment as utilities get their lines back in service."
