Meggitt's sensing systems were selected by Snecma to provide a package of sensor products for the LEAP-1B engine. This engine will power the Boeing 737MAX.
Meggitt estimates that the revenue generated from this agreeent, which includes original equipment, spares and repairs, will yield more than $300 million over the life of this engine. CFM International, who depeloved the engine, has already secured orders for more than 1,000 aircrafts.
Meggitt is an international company that specializes in high performance components and sub-systems for the aerospace, defence and energy markets. It plans to supply a suite of sensing products, measuring vibration, shaft speed, critical temperatures and oil level, supporting LEAP engine operators with its global customer service organisation. The LEAP sensor contracts were signed after continuing 100% on time delivery and quality from Meggitt Sensing Systems' Basingstoke facility in the UK, for which it received a best supplier award from Snecma for excellent operational performance on the CFM56 program.
Meggitt won engine sensor packages on the LEAP-1A and 1C in January 2012. The follow-on 1B win takes the value of Meggitt's sensors on LEAP family engines to some $500 million over the lifetime of the Boeing, Airbus (A320 neo) and COMAC (C919) aircraft.
