ODVA expands conformance testing for CIP Safety in Germany

June 3, 2015
ODVA conformance testing services for CIP Safety set to begin in Germany.

ODVA authorized two Test Service Providers to conduct ODVA conformance testing services for CIP Safety in Germany. The Institute of Ergonomics, Manufacturing Systems and Automation (IAF) at the Otto-von-Guericke-University of Magdeburg were authorized as a Test Service Provider (TSP) for CIP Safety on EtherNet/IP, and FISW Steuerungstechnik was authorized as a TSP for CIP Safety on Sercos III.

ODVA conformance testing is a way to assure that products built to the ODVA specifications comply with those specifications and interoperate in multi-vendor installations.

"Adoption of CIP Safety is becoming more widespread across industries and geographies," said Katherine Voss, president and executive director of ODVA.  "ODVA's expansion of conformance testing services for CIP Safety, at both its current TSP for EtherNet/IP in Magdeburg and also SI's existing test center for Sercos III, will benefit vendors and users of networked functional safety control systems."
