CC-Link Partner Association sets up security group

June 19, 2017
Will focus on network security, especially when users adopt SeamLess Message Protocol (SLMP) and CC-Link IE Field Basic, where general IP communication is used for both cyclic and transient communications.

CC-Link Partner Association (CLPA) reported May 31 that it's establishing a working group (WG) on industrial Ethernet security. The working group's project will focus on network security, especially when users adopt SeamLess Message Protocol (SLMP) and CC-Link IE Field Basic, where general IP communication is used for both cyclic and transient communications. The group will also produce a guideline document for secure network design, which will be based on the IEC 62443 standard, including the defense in depth security approach. Router/switch configuration examples for secure SLMP and CC-Link IE Field Basic will also be described. Participating companies in CLPA's industrial Ethernet security WG include include Cisco Systems, Hilscher, Mitsubishi Electric, HMS, Belden-Hirschmann, Moxa, Panduit and Mind.
