Control Room Designs Revolutionize Work Environments

See How Control Rooms Were Originally Designed and How Differently They Are Designed Today

By Katherine Bonfante

Ever since engineers have been developing software and redesiging the way many of our machines look and work, the work environments have changed dramatically. Industrial control centers and control rooms have been some of the places were these changes have been dramatic.

In the past, control rooms were filled with large panels and the support instrumentation had to be housed in an adjacent room. Now, thanks to Human Factor Engineering (HFE), modern controls rooms not only house the PCs and PC workstations but also the people that use this technology.

Read our article "Designing Control Rooms for Humans" to learn more about how control rooms were originally designed and how they have changed throughout time. These changes allow our industry professionals to work more efficiently.
