Successful Alarm Management in Seven Steps: An ADGAS Alarm Management Improvement Project
In 2004 ADGAS commissioned PAS to assist with a comprehensive DCS alarm management improvement project. The project included developing a site–wide alarm philosophy standard, benchmarking system performance, mitigating problem alarms, redesigning the alarm system via the documentation and rationalization process and implementing a real-time alarm management strategy.
This paper describes the business case for improving the DCS alarm system, the strategy employed by the PAS and ADGAS team to improve the alarm system and the improvement realized by implementing these solutions.
