IO-Link master modules and sensors

Stride and Murrelektronik IO-Link master modules interface between field devices and higher-level controllers/information systems, and control data traffic between connected devices. They convert IO-Link signals to/from EtherNet/IP, OPC-UA and MQTT protocols. Stride will convert IO-Link data to EtherNet/IP messages for better insight into system performance, using a well-established fieldbus protocol. Murrelektronik provides the same advantages as the lower-cost Stride, with added OPC and MQTT capabilities.

Five ports with auto-negotiation

Switch with double-protected power

EKI-2725/2728 unmanaged Ethernet switch supports Gigabit Ethernet. Its power is a 12 ~ 48 VDC redundant input design that’s secured with a double protection mechanism—power polarity reverse protection that tolerates reverse power wiring, and an overload current resettable fuse that secures the system from overload currents. Each port of EKI-2725/2728 has two LEDs to show link status transmission speed and collision status.

Industrial Gateway has two Ethernet ports and two- and four-port serial options for connecting controllers and devices across multiple protocols. It can move data between PLCs and slave (server) devices—each with a different protocol. It runs at 10/100 Mbps, full duplex, connects with an eight-pin RJ45, and serves as the master for EtherNet/IP, EtherNet.IP-PCCC, Modbus TCP and S7 protocols. Switch extends temperature range

FL Switch 1000 unmanaged Ethernet switches include NT versions with an extended temperature range, and approvals for process and maritime applications. 1000NT switches are available in 10/100 and Gigabit versions, and allow Automation Protocol Prioritization (APP), so critical data packets from EtherNet/IP, Profinet and other protocols are sent through the network first. Long-reach switches cut power use

ADIN2111 two-port Ethernet switches from Analog Devices are a single-chip solution for 10BASE-T1L line, ring and daisy-chain networks. They slash power consumption up to 50% and reduce board space up to 75% compared to discrete implementations. ADIN2111 also adds Long Reach Ethernet connectivity to devices. ADIN2111 supports line lengths up to 1,700 meters while consuming only 77 mW. The two PHY cores support 1 V or 2.4 V swing data transfer voltages from 1.8 V to 3.3 V supply voltage.

Cable tester expands connectivity

LinkIQ cable and network tester has upgraded its ability to test and troubleshoot IP networks, test industrial Ethernet cabling, and support users in 12 languages. Its new Version 1.1 software is shipping in all new units and is available as a free upgrade to existing users. Users can verify connectivity and response time to network devices with one touch of the screen. LinkIQ can also be configured to perform IPv4 or v6 ping tests, and will display the response time for four pings to a target device selected the user.

Temperature measurement via Ethernet

BusWorks NT expandable, modular, remote, Ethernet I/O modules are adjustable for temperature measurement. NT2610 modules have eight thermocouple/millivolt inputs and two bidirectional discrete digital I/O channels. Each input can support sensors. NTE Ethernet models provide a network interface to monitor temperatures. Appending NTX expansion models can interface up to 32 TC/mV sensor inputs at one IP address. The modules provide field-selectable Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP or Profinet.

Self-configuring I/O modules

PC-based software networks with controls

TwinCAT 3 PC-based automation and control software has added easy, efficient communication with Siemens controllers via its S7 protocol. TwinCAT 3 existing options for connecting TCP/IP-based third-party systems to the main control program include OPC UA, MQTT, HTTPS and Modbus. TwinCAT S7 Communication (TF6620) function expands this broad spectrum to include the S7 communication protocol. This add-on enables reading and writing of variables from an S7 controller.
