Fieldbus Foundation and HART Communication Foundation Merger Approved
The final step in constructing a single organization to lead process automation communications and integration technologies has been completed, with members of both the Fieldbus Foundation and HART Communication Foundation approving the merger proposed by their respective boards through a voting process that concluded on August 30. This completes a yearlong study and diligence period by a dedicated team of volunteers representing each of the foundations. Read more »

Important Notice Regarding Fieldbus Chip Sets
The Fieldbus Foundation has learned that chip manufacturer Yamaha Kagoshima Semiconductor will discontinue its 6-inch CMOS line in March 2015, which includes the YTZ420-VZ chip. Developers utilize this chip in a wide range of fieldbus instruments. Yamaha is accepting forecasts covering the entire life of (your) products through June 11, 2014, and final forecasts are due by September 4, 2014. Shipments will conclude at the end of March 2015. FOUNDATION Developer Training Headed to Frankfurt

Device Description Library Updated to Version 3.8.1
The Fieldbus Foundation has issued the latest update to its FOUNDATION fieldbus Device Description (DD) Library. Version 3.8.1 release addresses an anomaly in the COMPATIBILITY_REV parameter, which enables device manufacturers to build backwards-compatible devices capable of operating on a prior device revision's DD. Developers should download this latest version of the DD Library. Read more »

Integrate FOUNDATION Fieldbus to the PlantPAx System
The PlantPAx system from Rockwell Automation allows use of devices from many vendors. This flexibility includes fully integrating FOUNDATION fieldbus to any ControlLogix platform through linking devices 1788-EN2FFR and 1788-CN2FFR. These modules, which provide a direct link from EtherNet/IP or ControlNet to the FOUNDATION fieldbus H1 device level network, enable seamless data distribution and execution of process control as part of a registered FOUNDATION Fieldbus host system.
