Today almost all of the major control systems suppliers are making massive investments in software. The question is whether these investments will actually allow the control systems vendors to compete against software intensive firms like SAP, Microsoft, Google or Oracle? The OSIsoft User Conference officially kicked off today. Most of the atttendees arrived today and many were at the welcome reception. Unofficial numbers are around 1,500 attendees with 1,000 of the attendees end users and system integrators.
