Softing's new FOUNDATION fieldbus mobile host software offers the opportunity to develop new hand-held equipment that is able to act in fieldbus networks simultaneously to the host system.

Softing's new FOUNDATION fieldbus mobile host software offers the opportunity to develop new handheld equipment that is able to act in fieldbus networks simultaneously to the host system. The software also extends the functionality of existing handheld tools by enhancing its capability with fieldbus configuration and calibration functions.

Handheld equipment based on Softing's FOUNDATION fieldbus mobile host solution can perform configuration, parameterization, and immediate diagnostics functions directly in the field. The time needed for commissioning a plant or troubleshooting a running system is significantly reduced. Moreover, the comprehensive functionality of hand-held tools based on this solution represents an attractive option for end-users by eliminating the need to carry various individual interfaces for process control systems.

The FOUNDATION fieldbus mobile host software is implemented on Softing's standard FBK-2 hardware, which has already passed physical layer and conformance tests. The documented programming interface (API) allows the seamless integration of the mobile host application. On request, Softing's team of experts can provide assistance in the development of individual host applications.
