ABB reported Dec. 15 that it will provide integrated digital automation and electrical systems for India-based Emami Cement’s greenfield cement grinding unit at its plant in Orissa, India. Emami is the flagship company of the Kolkata-based Emami Group, which is investing in setting up energy-efficient cement plants to meet future demand from ongoing infrastructure investment in the country. Over 50% of the cement capacity in India currently uses ABB’s automation solutions.

ABB will perform complete project implementation of supply, erection, testing and commissioning for the electrical distribution and ABB Ability 800xA automation system. The electrical distribution system includes a 220 kV switchyard with 20/25 MVA 220 kV/11 kV transformer, 11 kV board, intelligent motor control center, distribution transformer, medium- and low- voltage capacitors, and related accessories. System 800xA DCS will integrate control, electrical and communication systems for optimal visibility into all processes for stable production and efficient use of all raw materials and energy.
