Product roundup: the latest in motors and drives

Feb. 2, 2017
Drives and motors push the lifeblood raw materials and products that keep the process industries alive.

Replacement NEMA motors

Ten new Marathon NEMA 182TC- or 184TC-frame motors with YxxxA catalog numbers match frame size and horsepower, and are equivalent in dimension, weight and performance to the non-“A” suffix models they replace. Marathon AC motors include induction models ranging from 1/4 HP to 100 HP, and feature dual 230/460 VAC and 575 VAC voltages with a base speed of 1,200 RPM or 1,800 RPM. They're performance-matched to Durapulse and GS series AC drives, and carry a three-year warranty.

Hybrid exceeds premium efficiency

RPM XE motor platform achieves efficiency two to four efficiency bands above NEMA premium efficient levels (IE3) by employing a hybrid motor design. Its advanced technology combines the starting attributes of an induction cage with permanent magnets, and can provide substantial energy savings and performance for most centrifugal-load applications. The hybrid design exceeds premium efficiency performance on sine wave power, while meeting IE3 as a combined motor and drive package.

Servomotors and amplifiers

Sigma-7 line of rotary, linear and direct-drive servomotors and amplifiers nearly double the bandwidth of Yaskawa’s Sigma-5 servos for quicker response to system commands. They have 24-bit encoding that boosts precision 16 times higher than industry standard, and new algorithms that correct machine imperfections. The 18 new Sigma-7 products cover a wide range of motion-control applications with rotary servos from 3 W to 55 kW in output. Users can choose from two direct-drive servos and four linear products.
