ISA Honors Millenial Net Co-Founder

Aug. 11, 2004

Sokwoo Rhee received the Douglas H. Annin Award for the design and development of a self-organizing wireless sensor network system that permits instrumentation and sensing devices to connect and communicate with each other and with controllers.

The ISA’s Annin Award recognizes an outstanding achievement in the design or development of components of an automatic control system from the input measurement through the final control element.

Rhee's i-Beans are hardware modules that can allow instrumentation like gauges, sensors and actuators to communicate over self-organizing and self-healing wireless networks that can operate with an extremely low rate of power consumption on the energy of a 3-V coin-sized battery for years at a time.
