Siemens gets order for combined power, control and field instruments from Novus

Clearly showing that ABB isn't the only people who can automate all of the controls, both electric and process, in a plant, Siemens released this press release today:

NOVUS ENERGY SELECTS SIEMENS FOR BIOCHEMICAL PRODUCTION PLANTS

ATLANTA, Jan. 20, 2010 – Siemens Industry, Inc. today announced that it has been selected by Novus Energy to supply the full scope of electrification, Simatic PCS 7 process automation and instrument measurement technologies for three new biochemical production facilities. Now in the design phase of development, the facilities will convert various agricultural residues into green fuel, clean water and organic fertilizer.

Novus expects to begin construction of its first plant in Canada in 2010.

Novus Energy President John Offerman says working closely with Siemens will reduce investment risk, accelerate project execution and help the company meet growing national and international demands for alternative fuels, organic fertilizer and clean water recovery. 

“We reviewed several of the leading control system suppliers and found Siemens’ quality and value were superior,” Offerman says. “Siemens also invested time and engineering resources to assist us with process development, process control, engineering and even marketing. Additionally, Siemens has been instrumental in developing the automation systems, including graphics, for our NBCTM process that converts organic waste into biogas, fertilizer and clean water.”

Today, development continues at Novus Energy’s first NBC facility in Canada.  Other facilities scheduled to begin construction in late 2010 are in, Oregon and Colombia.
