A model-based approach for viscosity control

Feb. 17, 2006
Process control authority Bela Liptak brings in specialists from his cadre of co-authors to answer a reader's question. Find out how you can develop a model-based approach for viscosity control.
QUESTION:

I WAS informed that you wrote an article on a model-based approach for viscosity control using temperature, flow, viscosity and density. He told me that you wrote an article 15-20 years ago on how to model such an application in ISA's InTech magazine. I have tried unsuccessfully to find this article and was directed to you to try to obtain a copy. If you have a copy of the article or any other reference that you would deem helpful please provide.

Adrian Anderson, Instrumentation Engineer, Wink Inc.

ANSWER:

UNFORTUNATELY, I do not recall the particular article. If your problem involves viscosity measurement, I would refer you to pages 1700 to 1707 in the 1st volume of my handbook. If you are interested in using a multivariable envelope for control purposes, you might find something useful in the 2nd volume.
