Four types of analyzers

This 8-minute video, "Back to Basics: ph, oxidation reduction potential (ORP), conductivity and density" presented by former Control editor-in-chief Walt Boyes, takes a look at the wet chemistry measurements and density. ORP, ph and conductivity are deceptively simple and similar, so the video teaches about how to differentiate these three measurements and how to better understand them. It also covers density analyzers.

Analyzer evolution article

This online feature article, " Improving analytics to meet process industry demands" by Marcus Trygstad, charts the evolution of process analyzers from the labs of yesteryear to field-based shelters and to today's pipe-centric applications, where samples an be taken analyzed more quickly to cut costs, reduce maintenance, and improve operations.

Analyzer sample system essentials

The two-part feature article, "Basics of Analyzer Sample Systems" by Control columnist Ian Verhappen, asks readers, "If you had to design and install a process analyzer sample system, how would you do it?" And then, it shows them how to know their process conditions by calculating dead spaces, system lag time and system pressure drop, as well as simplifying a planned system, and picking the equipment for it.

Oxidation reduction potential video

The video of this 46-minute webinar, "Understanding ORP Basics," is presented by Yokogawa Analytical Products. It reports that measuring and working with ORP is very common, but taking true measurement is often not self-evident, and in some instances, inaccurate measurements can lead to mis-dosing.

Basics of sampling systems

This 6-minute video, "Back to Basics: Sampling Systems" presented by former Control editor-in-chief Walt Boyes, examines many of the problems with at-line and inline analyzers, traces their difficulties to sample and sample-transport systems, and covers several solutions, such as the New Sampling Sensor Initiative (NeSSI).
