NCIS and Aurora

Feb. 22, 2017

February 21st, 2017, CBS television had an NCIS episode that featured the Aurora vulnerability. The Aurora event that was depicted on the program had many of the misconceptions that are prevalent to this day. That is, Aurora is malware and only affects diesel generators. In reality, Aurora is not a virus, or even malware - it is a physics issue. Secondly, Aurora is not just about generators, but also motors and even transformers. Given that the Aurora information was declassified by DHS more than two years ago, one can only hope there are no copycat attempts.
