ISA GOES BACK TO PROVIDING STANDARDS AS A MEMBER BENEFIT!
Starting about 10 years ago, a group of us volunteers at ISA tried to get standards provided for free to the membership. We were, finally, able to get them supplied for a nominal fee of $25, but even that ended earlier this year, when the last of the three year memberships that included the free standards option expired.
ISA, obviously under new and dynamic leadership, has re-thought the member benefit issue, and has announced that standards are once again, a member benefit...this time, as we originally wanted it, for free.
This by itself makes being an ISA member cost effective for anybody who has occasion to use one ISA standard a year. Like the Technical Reports published by SP84, or the upcoming wireless and security standards.
Congratulations to the ISA leadership who had the guts to reverse their decision and do the right thing.
What will it take to get every automation professional to be a member of ISA? An overwhelming number of unique member benefits. And I don't mean cheap insurance or rental car discounts, or an affinity credit card.
This is a huge step in that direction. More, please.
