At the end of my keynote presentation today at the HART Communication Foundation's Member Meeting, I issued the following challenge. "I want to challenge you, vendors and end-users alike," I said, "to make sure that it doesn't take five years to come up with working wireless standards. I challenge the HART Wireless Working Group to have a published specification by the end of this year, and I challenge those of you who are also working on SP100 to have a published standard by the end of 2007. The end user community will not be well served if we have a Wireless War to compliment the Fieldbus War you all have been fighting for over 15 years now." Among other industry leaders in attendance was Steve Sonnenberg, president of Rosemount, who stood up and said that he accepted my challenge on behalf of Emerson. Let's hear from the rest of you.
