Short Course, New Book on WirelessHART Fundamentals

Sept. 27, 2010
An In-Depth Look at IEC 62591 (WirelessHART)

If a more in-depth understanding of WirelessHART, the IEC's 62591 standard for wireless mesh automation networks, is on your to-do list for Emerson Exchange 2010, you won't want to miss Tuesday afternoon's short course.  Held 2-4 p.m. in room 205 of the Henry B. Gonzalez Conference Center, instructors of the short course titled "An In-Depth Look at IEC 62591 (WirelessHART)" will also give away several free copies of their new book on the subject to short course attendees.

Co-presenters (and co-authors) Mark Nixon, Chen Deji and Eric Rotvold of Emerson Process Management explain the key attributes of WirelessHART that make it an effective solution for wireless networks in process applications—notably its simplicity, reliability and security.

"WirelessHART is a robust technology, yet simple to implement," the authors note in the introduction to the new book. "It provides the same safe, easy, dependable experience that users know and expect from HART-related products by maintaining compatibility with existing HART devices, tools and systems. This enables users with HART experience to quickly and easily gain the benefit of wireless technology. The easiness comes partly from the automatic network features. A WirelessHART mesh is a self-organizing self-healing adaptive network. It automatically adjusts to changes in plant infrastructure, e.g., when a new instrument is added to the network."

Copies of the book, WirelessHART: Real-Time Mesh Network for Industrial Automation, are available on Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/WirelessHART-Real-Time-Network-Industrial-Automation/dp/1441960465) and on the publisher's website (http://www.springer.com/engineering/signals/book/978-1-4419-6046-7).
