Talking alarm management with Eddie Habibi

June 8, 2006
PAS founder and CEO Eddie Habibi discusses ways to improve your alarm management system. Habibi’s newly released book fills a void in an area within the process industries that has been kept under wraps until now.
AS FOUNDER and CEO of Houston-based PAS, Habibi addresses alarm management with the specific aim of improving safety and reliability at the world's process plants. His new book, "The Alarm Management Handbook," co-authored with Bill Hollifield, investigates ways process plant personnel can improve their alarm management systems, including development of an alarm philosophy, rationalization of existing alarm strategies, and the application of real-time alarm management.

Prior to establishing PAS, Habibi held various positions at Schlumberger and Honeywell International. He holds an engineering degree from the University of Houston and an MBA from the University of St. Thomas. He has led the growth of PAS since its initial founding in 1993 as a professional consultancy to being a global provider today of advanced automation solutions to the processing industries worldwide.

Habibi is a recognized industry thought leader in the areas of operations effectiveness, automation intellectual property asset management, data mining and knowledge management. He has been collecting trade secrets and intellectual property on alarm management for over a decade and recently compiled it into a must-read handbook.

"The Alarm Management Handbook," by Bill Hollifield and Eddie Habibi, is available online.
