Hima-Sella Awarded Safety Systems Contracts at Teesside Gas Processing Plant
Hima-Sella, a safety systems specialist, has been granted contracts for the design, manufacture and installation of safety systems at the Teesside Gas Processing Plant (TGPP) in Seal Sands, Middlesbrough. This processing plant is currently under modifications to receive and process gas from the Breagh field in the North Sea.
One of the contracts, granted by AMEC, states that Hima-Sella is providing an Emergency Shutdown (ESD) system at the processing plant. The ESD is design around a HIMA HIQuad H51q-HS (SIL 3 rated) Programmable Electronic System (PES), featuring dual redundant CPUs. This will reside in four system cabinets. Tthree of the cabinets will be at the processing plant and the fourth is said to be located pproximately 100km offshore, on an unmanned Breagh Alpha platform.
The second contract, granted by J. Murphy & Sons Ltd, dictates that Hima-Sella will provide a High Integrity Pressure Protection System (HIPPS). The system will be located at Beach Valve Compound, a landfall site 10km from the processing plant, and will be based on the HIMA HIQuad H51q (PES). The HIPPS will perform 2003 voting on pressure transmitters, providing fail-safe protection of the downstream pipeline against overpressure.
The ESD and HIPPS are scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2012.
