ISA to present new alarm management standard at Matrikon Summit 2007

April 4, 2007
The standard is intended to provide a methodology that will result in the improved safety of industrial and manufacturing facilities.

EDMONTON, April 4, 2007 – Matrikon has announced the participation of the Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Society (ISA) as an exhibitor and presenter at Matrikon Summit 2007, the technology conference for process industry executives, process control engineers and other professionals.

ISA’s presence at Matrikon Summit 2007 will be focused on the upcoming ISA-SP18.02 standard addressing the development, installation, and management of alarm systems in the process industries. This standard is intended to provide a methodology that will result in the improved safety of industrial and manufacturing facilities.

The ISA-SP18.02 standard is an extension of existing ISA and industry standards, and Matrikon has been intimately involved in its development.

"ISA has a long history with alarm system standards, with work dating back to the 1960's," said ISA-SP18 committee chair Nick Sands of DuPont. "When we began work on a new standard for alarm system management in 2003, Matrikon was a key contributor. Since that time, the Matrikon participants have shared their knowledge and experience, and worked alongside other companies to draft a practical standard that will better structure companies' approaches to alarm management."

Matrikon Summit 2007 will provide the opportunity for control, automation and operations managers to get informed on ISA-SP18.02, and to learn more about how to become compliant with the alarm management standard.
