Effective Console Operator HMI Design Practices is written for individuals who establish or assist in establishing company HMI standards, style guides, and information displays accessed by console operators through their control system workstations. This audience includes individuals from both manufacturing and vendor companies that deliver solutions for console operator workstations.
The new edition has revised and consolidated the number of guidelines to a total of 64, compared to 81 guidelines in the previous 2008 edition, and more than 50% of the guidelines are revised. In addition, the new edition contains a new section on HMI design philosophy and a new appendix summarizing results from an HMI design case study. New display design examples are included in the new guidelines book, including 28 new figures and 43 revised figures, for the benefit of HMI design engineers.
